If you’ve ever stood in your kitchen and thought, “This is the year we finally remodel,” only to get lost in a whirlwind of cabinet colors, backsplash patterns, sink styles, and flooring choices… you’re not alone.
There are so many decisions to make—and sometimes, maybe even too many. That endless scroll of inspiration photos and Pinterest boards can go from exciting to paralyzing real quick. The result? We put the project on hold. Or extend the timeline. Or start it, then quietly set it aside.
In the meantime, the outdated kitchen continues to test our patience. Another drawer sticks, the cabinet hinge pops again, and we keep shifting that vase to cover the stained spot on the countertop. Eventually, we muster the courage to revisit the remodel… and the cycle begins again.
So where do you start? How do you break the cycle and actually start checking boxes?
Here’s what we’ve learned after working with thousands of customers:
Those who find one visual focal point—one element they absolutely love—tend to have the smoothest design process. And more often than not, that focal point is the countertop.
Some customers fall in love with a bold, dramatic slab that steals the show. From there, choosing flooring and cabinets becomes easier—they’re simply supporting cast members. Others prefer their cabinets to be the star and opt for a more understated stone to complement them.
Whether you’re planning a full remodel or a new build, it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. You just need a starting point—and in our (slightly biased) opinion, starting with the countertop makes the most sense.
We always encourage customers to come in and look at full slabs in person. You’ll be surprised how often that one moment of “oh wow, this is it” becomes the anchor for the rest of the design.
Let us help you take that first step—because starting somewhere is better than staying stuck.
